Correctional Officers Week

May 5, 2026

A message from the Jail Administrator to the Shelby County Jailers:

“Team,

As Correctional Officer Week is here (May 3–9, 2026), I want to take a moment to recognize each of you for the work you do every single day. What you handle isn’t easy. It takes strength, patience, awareness, and a level of dedication that often goes unseen by the outside world. You show up, you stay alert, and you carry responsibilities that most people will never fully understand. That consistency matters more than it gets credit for. I see the long shifts, the difficult situations, and the pressure you manage while still maintaining professionalism. You are the backbone of this operation, and without your commitment, none of this works. Thank you for supporting each other, for staying sharp, and for continuing to do the job the right way—even when it’s tough. This week is about recognizing you, but your value goes far beyond just these few days. Stay safe, look out for one another, and know your work matters.

Respectfully Jail Administrator, Tiffany Curry”
