I started my law enforcement career in December 1972 attending the Texas Game Warden Academy. My first duty station was Refugio County. I transferred to Goliad County in 1976. In 1980 I transferred to Shelby County and I served there until 1995 when I transferred to Washington County. I retired in 1998 as a Game Warden Sergeant. Upon my retirement I moved back to Shelby County and continued to hold my commission as a special Game Warden to present. I  served as chief deputy under Sheriff James Moore from 2000-2002.

I was elected sheriff in 2013 and I continue to work for the citizens of Shelby County at this time. Forty-four years of law enforcement allows you to see the changes that have occurred in law enforcement in the country and Shelby County. There have been many great sheriff's in Shelby County that preceeded me and I hope to serve the citizens for years to come.

Thank you for your continued trust and support.
